Shanghai Pinghe School is a bilingual school located in Shanghai Pudong, including primary school, junior middle school, and high school. And in this blog, I will mainly introduce you the high school department.

As you can see in the picture above, this is the gate for high school students and teachers. It’s on Mingyue Road, and our street number is 1029. The security guards at this gate are very nice since they don’t really prevent students who live on campus to get their take-out food after school. Also, all of students’ and teachers’ express deliveries will be put in the room behind the guard room, so don’t be worried about sending deliveries to school.

Now we officially entered the campus. Right below the welcome sign, there is a map of the whole campus, and the area in the blue box is where most of the time high school students stay, which is basically the region around Building 4.

You can see Building 4 right after you go through the gate, and it is the second biggest building of the whole campus. Building 4 is the building for high school, and both the IB department and part of the OSSD department is here.

For high school, the school aspires a high quality education, so in building 4, the infrastructures are all well designed with high-tech, students can found all most all the things they want to complete their course work or personal requirements during the study process. Here is a building directory of building 4, it is on the left hand side wall after entering the building.

On the ground floor, there is the student’s cafeteria. The lunch will be started at 11 a.m. and ended at 12.30 p.m. However at 11.45 a.m the number of students in the line will peak, so better to have lunch before that time if can.

Go down the stairs near the cafeteria, there’s the gym. It has standard basketball court and facilities, with a retractable stand. Students will take their PE class here, and sometimes there will be basketball competitions been held. And every Monday, all students need to be in the gym to have flag raising ceremony. We also use the gym to hold big parties and events like Jumbo Party and Halloween Party.

Near the entry of the gym, there are two vending machines. These machines had just been putted here for two years, since we don not have convenience store in campus, so these machines make up for the shortcoming, so students can buy snacks and drinks here.

Go up to the second floor, you can find the library and the printing room. There are always a lot of students want to study individually and quietly, so they will go to the library. There are a lot of seats provided for students, and you can find a plug near every seats. The printing room is not big, but there are 2 big printing machines and 3 small ones, and you can also find some staplers and paper cutters there.

On the fourth floor, right after you get out of the stair well, you can see a free hug sign, which is held by the grade 11 students. It is really cute 🙂

There are also some tables in the hallway, so students can have a small space to do their works. There are also some posters of different clubs and artworks from students.

Now lets go down stairs again. At the back of the building, there is parking shed for bicycles and electromobiles. Both students and teachers will park their car here.

Go through the parking shed, you will arrive at building 3. Building 3 was used to be the high school building years ago, and now it is the building for grade 7 to 9 students. The chemistry lab and physics lab is there, and some of the classes in Grade 10 and 11 will be taken there.

Another high school building is building 5, which is the newest building in the campus. This is the building only for the OSSD grade 10 to 11 classes and teachers. Since OSSD department is the Canadian high school, so they had been separated from the IB department. The grade 12 OSSD students are still having classes in building 4, but since next session, all OSSD grades will be in building 5.

By the entry of building 5, there is our own café——Pinghe Coffee. It was opened at the same time was building 5 started to be used. Students and teachers can buy coffee from the window or take a seat inside of the café, and if you want to sit in an open space, you can go to the terrace on the second floor.

That’s the end of the tour. Thanks for watching.
Welcome to visit Pinghe School.
